I don't trust the warranty on Leatherman. However Leatherman does not verify (nor is there really a way to verify) if you’re the original owner. Victorinox truly stands by its products and put their money where their mouths are. Rust is not covered by Leatherman's free warranty. Per Leatherman no the warranty does not transfer. They denied my claim because they didn’t believe I was the original owner, claiming it was a warranty scam. To my surpr I used to be the biggest leatherman fan boy, but their quality control is awful, and newer products are overpriced. So, relax. Painless really. Man stay away. I’ve been carrying my Rebar for the past 6 years,it’s been a great multitool though I wish I had known they had the Rebar available with scissors in place of the knife blade. Didn't even consider Victorinox because of the price. I would much rather have the scissors because I always carry a folder anyway so the knife blade in my Rebar never gets used.
