The Bitcoin Improvement Proposal: 39 (BIP39 wordlist) is a recovery or mnemonic phrase that can back up and recover a cryptocurrency wallet without using complicated private keys. It is based on the BIP-0039. 12 words can be permuted in 479 million different ways (12!). The list of 2,048 BIP39 words was created in 2013 in English and is unlikely to be altered for the foreseeable future.
